Schenectady: Woman convicted of arson in 2025 State St. fire — Saratoga Springs Community news

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (WNYT)- Aundrea Blunt was convicted of arson after an incendiary fire at a used car lot in the city, according to the Schenectady Fire Department. The fire department said crews were sent at about 1:19 a.m. May 6, 2025, to a reported vehicle fire near a building at 1302 State Street. Firefighters found multiple vehicles burning close together at a used car lot. After crews put out the fire, the Schenectady Fire Department Fire Investigation Unit, led by Lt. Penn, investigated the cause. The department said the unit determined the fire was incendiary. Authorities arrested Aundrea Blunt, 43, in connection with the fire. Blunt was later convicted of third-degree arson and sentenced to 7.5 to 13 years in state prison. The Schenectady Fire Department said it remains committed to investigating suspicious fires and working with law enforcement to hold people accountable.
