Middleton said he spoke with a representative at National Grid about what options might be open to the village to increase lighting in the area. He said National Grid would first need to determine whether new lights could be attached to the existing poles or if additional poles would be needed based on the village’s request. Although there would be no upfront cost for the installation, the additional lighting would increase the village’s electric bill. “I like the idea. I just don’t want to say, ‘yes’ or ‘no’ until we know what the additional monthly costs will be,” Trustee Zach Baxter cautioned. Middleton plans to engage with National Grid to generate some specific numbers and potential placement locations from the Cooper’s Cave Bridge to St. Michael’s Church to bring back to the board at its next meeting.
